RESPONSIBLE TO: Support Officer & Project Manager

BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contractual with an 11 month probationary period.

LOCATION OF POST: 8 Linenhall Street Ballymena

CLOSING DATE: 5 December 2008

INTERVIEW DATES:Week of 15 - 19 December 2008

JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the provision of safe and accessible supported accommodation for persons who are unable to sustain suitable accommodation elsewhere by.

Essential Criteria:

• Good literacy and numeric skills
• A minimum of one years experience working in Social Care or Support with a willingness to undertake training to a standard of NVQ II or above
• or
• A relevant NVQ II or equivalent
• Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the needs of disadvantaged people
• Be available to work regular unsocial hours
• Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the Aims and Values of Living Rivers Lighthouse Hostel

Preferred criteria:

• GCSE (A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)
• Previous experience in implementing support programmes, including life skills, both one to one and within group sessions
• A full driving licence and regular access to a motor vehicle
• Word processing and general computer knowledge

Essential Personal Characteristics:

• An assertive, committed, self motivated individual with the capacity to work within a team, and make appropriate decisions
• Have good inter-personal and organisational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
• Have the ability to maintain professional boundaries
• Enthusiasm with a flexible approach to working and adaptable to change
