Development Worker
Armagh/Upper Bann Development Worker Ref: AS/09

17.5 Hours per week
Starting salary £16,854 per annum (pro rata £8426)
Fixed term contract for one year

The Society requires a highly motivated individual to assist the Armagh Upper Bann Branch to develop and maintain:

1. support and information services for carers and people with dementia across the Armagh Upper Bann area
2. raise awareness of the illness
3. partnership working with the Statutory and voluntary agencies within the area.

Alzheimer's disease and other dementias affect over 750,000 people in the UK alone and numbers continue to grow. The Alzheimer's Society is the leading care and research charity for people with any form of dementia, their carers and families. The successful candidate will have:

1. experience of working with vulnerable people in a caring or supportive role
2. experience of working in partnership with statutory and/or voluntary organisations
3. a broad understanding of social care issues, statutory and other service provision
4. an understanding of dementia or issues affecting older people would be an advantage.

Ability to demonstrate personal mobility within the Armagh Upper Bann area.
