PLACEMENT OFFICER (Employment Support) Ref POES/05

The Employment Support Service offers people with disabilities the opportunity of working alongside non-disabled colleagues in a full range of jobs in ordinary industrial and commercial settings. Disability Action wishes to appoint a Placement Officer to provide ongoing specialist support to both employers and employees engaged in the programme.

Candidates must have the following.

• Experience of supporting people with disabilities in employment or on vocational training programmes OR at least two years experience of supporting disadvantaged people in employment or on vocational training programmes.
• Knowledge or experience of the Disablement Advisory Service and other agencies involved in the training and employment of disabled people.
• An understanding of the issues and barriers relating to equality of opportunity in employment for people with disabilities.
• Knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act.

Location: Belfast
Salary: £18,404 to £23,814 per annum (under review)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Tenure: six month fixed term (maternity cover) with the potential for extension
