This paid internship offers a year long service and learn opportunity to develop and deliver the Local Volunteer Programme at Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland. The person appointed will be expected to help deliver training and capacity building programmes to volunteer groups while supporting the overall Local Volunteer Programme.

General Roles and Responsibilities:
Sept 2007 – August 2008, Habitat office, Belfast.

1. Working with Programme Development Officer to deliver School and Youth Programme.

  • Organise logistics for 10 school programmes.
  • Assist in recruiting and organising 3 youth programmes.
  • Assist in delivering training for 8 school programmes and 3 youth programmes.

2. Work with incoming international teams.

  • Assist in marketing Global Village programme and recruiting 3-4 international teams for 2008.
  • Assist in arranging the logistics for incoming teams.
  • Assist in hosting and training incoming teams.

3. Work on volunteer programmes

  • Assist in organising, promoting and delivering various other volunteer programmes.
  • Record, analyse, and summarise volunteer evaluations.
  • Assist in administering the Local Volunteer Programme.

  3. Supervised practical training in areas of personal and professional interest
  4. Close supervision by a mentor in an apprenticeship type relationship.
  5. A salary of £11,545 per annum (under review).
