Parents Advice Centre (PAC) works to support families by providing a range of services to individual family members and those who work with children and families.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible person to work as part of our team of staff and volunteers in our Ballymena branch, providing information, guidance and support to individual family members via our freephone helpline, email and face to face appointments. You will share responsibility for the day to day delivery of these services by our volunteers with another part time Supervisor.

Key responsibilities of the role include to:

  1. supervise volunteers’ work performance and develop volunteers within the role
  2. support and motivate volunteers and promote effective teamwork
  3. ensure the consistent implementation of Helpline policies and procedures
  4. implement office and administrative systems to maintain a safe and effective working environment
  5. provide group supervision to volunteers
  6. contribute to the promotion, monitoring and evaluation of the Helpline service.

The post is for 16.5 hours per week, which may include some evening work (to be confirmed) with a salary of £8606 pa.

The person appointed must have:

  1. significant experience in staff and/or volunteer supervision
  2. significant experience of counselling skills practice
  3. sound working knowledge of child protection, child development and children’s behaviour
  4. knowledge of managing and motivating volunteers
  5. knowledge and experience of group facilitation
  6. knowledge of parenting styles, skills and issues
  7. effective communication and report-writing skills
  8. commitment to equal opportunities and ethos and principles of PAC
  9. eExperience of working on a helpline, working with volunteers and good basic ICT skills would also be an advantage.
