Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop a new pattern of sustainable volunteering to meet the vision and purpose of the community and the Ballycastle centre.
  2. Develop and deliver a new pro-active recruitment strategy, targeting volunteers with appropriate skills and experience to support the development and delivery of Corrymeela’s programmes, eg develop web site recruitment, develop networking opportunities.
  3. Develop and be responsible for a system of management, supervision and support of volunteers.
  4. Ensure that Summer Programme is fully supported and resourced with volunteers.
  5. Develop and deliver focused training to support volunteers in the development and delivery of programmes in the centre and equip them to become reconcilers and peace-builders in their own communities and work places.
  6. Explore and (if appropriate) develop a suitable accreditation scheme.
  7. Develop and deliver Corrymeela’s Child Protection Policy in relation to volunteering (both long-term and short-term) in the centre.
  8. Develop networks and partnerships with other regional, national and international volunteering agencies.
  9. With Appeals Director develop funding sources for volunteering.
  10. Develop and maintain volunteer contact database.
  11. Develop a network of volunteers who have come through Corrymeela and support them as they become reconcilers and peace-builders in other contexts.
  12. Monitor, evaluate and disseminate learning from the project.
  13. The worker is a key member of the core community at the centre. Members of this group make a commitment to one another to build community through regular meetings, times of reflection etc.
  14. Develop an exit and hand-over strategy.
  15. Be a member of the Cover Team for the centre.
  16. Any other task commensurate with this role.
