The Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health is a registered charity concerned with the promotion of mental health and the provision of mental health services throughout Northern Ireland.

Applications are invited for the following posts to launch this new independent “Peer Advocacy” service in the Western Health and Social Services Trust Area;

Mental Health Advocate – 16 hours per week
For one year in the first instance
Ref: AMH/MHA/07/26
Salary Scale: £9,186 - £11,175 (under review)
Based in Omagh

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and developing a peer advocacy service, which will include supervision and support of peer advocates. Main duties will also include individual advocacy with mental health service users both in a community and hospital setting.

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to NVQ level 3.
  • Minimum of two year’s experience of mental health issues either in paid, voluntary or personal capacity.
  • Minimum of one year’s management experience.
  • A full current driving licence and access to a car is essential.

Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence.
