Shankill SureStart is committed to working alongside interested day care centres, playgroups and crèches in the Greater Shankill area to develop and maintain high quality standards in the provision of early years care and education.

The role of the Early Years Practice Development Worker Ref: (06:04) is to enhance early years practice through a hands on approach with the service providers, providing mentoring support, modelling good practice, identifying resource and training needs, providing modular training on specific areas, and acting as a source of professional support for service providers in the area. It will also seek to encourage parental involvement and participation.

Salary Scale: NJC Pt 27 (£20,970)

Location: Shankill Sure Start (Alessie Centre)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Tenure: Fixed Term Contract until 30 June 2006

Essential Criteria

  1. Degree in early years care and education or equivalent.
  2. At least five years experience of working with young children gained in grouped based settings, three of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  3. Experience in providing recognised training and curriculum support for staff who work in an early years setting.
  4. Experience in drawing up and implementing action plans for the development of quality practice in early years settings.
  5. Experience of working with and facilitating groups.
