Calling all social entrepreneurs! The Community Transport Association is the national membership organisation of the community transport sector. Membership is rising and CTA’s services have grown to help operators to provide ever more accessible, affordable and appropriate local transport. CTA contributes to national policy and campaigns to raise awareness of the benefits of social transport for communities and individuals. Turnover of £1.5M derives from central and regional governments and voluntary sources with substantial revenue from CTA Trading Ltd. There are 30 employees. The main office is in Hyde, Greater Manchester, with offices in London, Belfast, Conwy and Galashiels. The post requires regular attendance at Hyde and in London, but could be based at any one of the above.

CTA seeks now an entrepreneurial Chief Executive who will lead strategic sustainable development (political, commercial and organisational) for the association and the movement as a whole.

THE ROLE

• To lead a strategic review of CTA culminating in a five year plan to build a sound regionalised organisation.
• To foster an entrepreneurial culture within the association and the movement, to finance development and self sufficiency.
• To promote and represent CTA and be an influential advocate for social transport.

THE PERSON

• Ideally, a successful director with experience of leading, driving and managing within a regionalised national membership organisation (voluntary or commercial), who is also a social entrepreneur with a zest for business and self­ sufficiency.
• A skilled executive with capabilities in business planning, finance and fundraising.
• A persuasive ambassador and advocate, able to influence and lobby.
