RESPONSIBLE TO: Support Officer & Project Manager

BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contractual with a 6 month probationary period

LOCATION OF POST: 8 Linenhall Street Ballymena

NORMAL WORKING WEEK: 44 hours

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the provision of safe and accessible supported accommodation for persons who are unable to sustain suitable accommodation elsewhere by.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

  1. Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  2. A minimum of one years experience working in Social Care or Support with a willingness to undertake training to a standard of NVQ II or above.
  3. or
  4. A relevant NVQ II or equivalent.
  5. Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the needs of disadvantaged people.
  6. Be available to work regular unsocial hours.
  7. Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the Aims and Values of Living Rivers Lighthouse Hostel.


Preferred criteria

  1. GCSE (A-C or equivalent in English and Maths).
  2. Previous experience in implementing support programmes, including life skills, both one to one and within group sessions.
  3. A full driving licence and regular access to a motor vehicle.
  4. Word processing and general computer knowledge.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. To provide supervision and support to clients in a manner which is conductive to the good practice of the organisation.
  2. To ensure that all clients have equal access to all services and that no client is adversely disadvantaged on any grounds.
  3. To assist with the provision of support services that will enable clients to develop such skills as may be necessary for them to progress to an independent lifestyle.
  4. To contribute to the delivery of support programmes, both one to one and group sessions.
  5. To ensure the provision of facilities, equipment and accommodation are, at all times hospitable and to a standard that meets with management and legislation.
  6. To complete such administrative records as may be required to enable the maintenance of efficient record keeping and monitoring.
  7. Liaise with appropriate public, private and voluntary organisations and Living Rivers Trust Staff.
  8. Advise Support Officer, as appointed by management on all aspects of the post holder’s responsibilities.
  9. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety/Equality requirements and legislation, and all other Living Rivers Lighthouse Hostel’s policies and procedures.
  10. Attend additional training and develop own skills as directed by the management team.
  11. Any other duties as may be allocated, appropriate to the post’s grade, including special projects.
