We are recruiting an experienced Community Development Officer for our ‘Communities in Transition’ Programme, based from our Belfast office, to work across selected
geographical areas in Counties Antrim and Down where weak infrastructure / community tensions remain key issues.
This is a fixed term post until March 2010 with a starting salary of NJC PT 33 - £26,835.
A minimum of 3 years full-time, paid community development experience working strategically across local neighbourhoods with a range of local groups is required, as is experience of working in communities where conflict or marginalisation are key barriers.
Managing human and financial resources (minimum of two years), evaluation, report writing and I.T. skills are also required.
The person appointed will be required to work unsocial hours and to travel throughout N.I. to support the programme areas.
Access to transport for work purposes is essential. This is a challenging post that demands a high level of commitment, as the areas selected have had little previous support. The person appointed will be required to work on a cross-community basis in areas where community tensions have resulted in divisions and /or poor service delivery.
