The Participation and Practice of Rights project consists of a coalition of organisations and groups working on social justice and poverty issues in Ireland, north and south.

The project exists “to promote awareness of international human rights instruments and standards and support marginalised communities and groups to use them in accessing services and achieving equality.”

This exciting three year project will work with community groups, anti poverty organisations and human rights groups in developing and testing a demonstration model for delivering a rights based approach to social justice issues.

We are seeking to recruit a number of posts for this project

Policy and Research Officer - 2 posts (1 Dublin, 1 Belfast)

The Policy and Research Officer, in collaboration with the Project Manager, Local Development Worker, local steering group and management committee, will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the Participation and Practice of Rights project produces high quality research and policy on a number of specific rights and equality issues as identified through the structures of the project.

The successful candidates will have:

  1. at least three years' experience of research and policy analysis in the area of human rights, poverty, equality and social exclusion
  2. experience of writing and speaking to policy papers for different audiences
  3. knowledge of law making, parliamentary procedures and policy at national and international level
  4. knowledge of international and domestic human rights instruments
  5. experience of developing baselines and indicators for the measurement of change
  6. coordinating or providing human rights or other relevant training.

Experience of working with the community and voluntary sector, evaluation processes and a relevant degree is desirable.

The starting salary: £ 26,448/ €38,374 (pensionable).

Deadline for receipt of applications is 5.00pm on Wednesday 15 February, and interviews will take place in Dublin on Monday 6 March and Belfast on Tuesday 7 March.
