Compass Advocacy Network have been awarded 5-Year project funding from the Big Lottery Fund. The purpose of this grant is to create a Shadow Council of people with learning disabilities for the Causeway area. We are looking to employ a Project Officer to co-ordinate this project by holding independent elections to nominate and elect representatives for a period of 3 years. We aim to develop participants' confidence, self esteem and skills to enable them to engage in user-led, community beneficial actions as acts of citizenship.

Essential Criteria, including:
Good standard of education and ability to communicate well orally and in writing; Min. of 3 years recent (in past 6) full-time paid Community Development /Relations/ Health/Learning Disability/Youth experience or four years recent and substantial voluntary of same; Demonstrable knowledge of community development principles, values and good practice. Knowledge of issues affecting people with learning disabilities and of key service providers and their responsibilities is also essential;
Candidates must be self-starters, innovative, committed to working alongside people with learning disabilities to bring about change at neighbourhood level.

5 years fixed term contract
Hours: 37 per week. Salary £21,588.00 per annum (plus 7% pension)
