Calling all budding authors, poets, dramatists and closet scribblers!
A free creative writing course for adults is introduced at Randalstown Library this Autumn
Have you a story to tell, that special ‘gift of the gab’ or ever fancied putting pen to paper? If you have always been interested in creative writing but don’t know where to start, then read on.
This autumn, Antrim Borough Council’s Cultural Service’s have teamed up with the Creative Writers Network to offer a FREE six-week course in creative writing.
Running at 6-8pm on Tuesday evenings from 12 September to 17 October at Randalstown Library, professional writer Ann McKay will guide each participant through the practice of creative writing covering all genres including poetry, prose, drama and storytelling and investigating character and plot development, narrative and finding your own literary voice.
Allowing creative exploration in an intimate and informal atmosphere, this might just be that inspirational push you need to get started or simply a learning refresher for those with more experience. Whatever your experience, this is a great opportunity to benefit from a locally provided writing course and is not to be missed!
Community Arts Officer Desima Connolly comments
‘We want to encourage storytelling and literary development throughout the borough as it is such an invaluable resource in recording folklore, community histories and fostering grassroots artistic development and hopefully this course will be the first of many more. We would also like to thank the NEELB Library Service for their co-operation. It’s a great chance for us to support the wonderful service our local libraries provide for our communities.’
Desima wants to hear from any community-based writers and storytelling groups or individuals based within the Antrim borough, so please contact her through Clotworthy Arts Centre.
Places are reserved to a maximum of twelve and will be served on a first come, first served basis. Booking must be done through Clotworthy Arts Centre on
