People in Northern Ireland are being encouraged to take the pledge to save the environment by DOE.
The ‘People Pledge’ campaign encourages simple behaviour changes such as re-using plastic bags or turning off the tap when cleaning teeth. In return, pledgers will receive an energy-efficient lightbulb, courtesy of NIE Eco- Energy.
A DOE Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) spokesperson said: “This is our second year co-ordinating Northern Ireland’s campaign to celebrate the United Nation’s World Environment Day.
“We want people to get involved by making a pledge or in other ways.

“There have been good responses from schools where teachers and pupils want to celebrate World Environment Day with special children’s pledges available and fabulous bright stickers featuring Pledge ‘Bright Spark’ cartoons as their gift.
“The public can pledge at a number of locations and events throughout Northern Ireland including Belfast City Council’s Waste Fair at City Hall later this week.”
Further information on getting involved and online pledging will be available on www.ehsni.gov.uk.
