An exhilarating mix of original writing, classic fairy tales, poetry and physical theatre with a soundtrack ranging from Massive Attack to Arvo Part, out of Inc’s Night-Light was one of the successes of the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe.

Night-Light is a show about fear and imagination. It’s about fear of the dark, fear of what we can’t see and of what we think we can see, and the fragile defences we build to keep that fear in check. But what happens when these defences become fearsome in their turn?

It’s the middle of the night. A woman wrestles with her insomnia, her memories, her anxieties – and with the child that she once was. She is wandering into territory that therapy cannot reach. Night-Light is a surreal journey through an inner darkness that affects child and adult alike.

Out of Inc was founded by Sinéad Rushe (Originally from Newry) in 2001 to combine the inventiveness of physical theatre with the rigour of literary inspiration. For Night-Light, she collaborates with the French performer Camille Litalien.

Night-Lighthas been developed at BAC London with financial support from Arts Council England (London). Tour funded by Arts Council England.
