Forging Links was produced as part of a three year project, supported by the Big Lottery Fund and managed by NIEL, which worked closely with 19 rural community groups to build their capacity to carry out local environmental projects.

The theme for the launch event is the value of partnerships, which will be incorporated throughout the day's proceedings to include a speech by Dave Wall, Director, Department for Social Development, presentations by key funders including the Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Environment and Heritage Service, discussion groups and a question time panel involving key representatives from the community and environment sector in Northern Ireland.

An exhibition area will also run alongside the event to showcase the work of participating organisations, giving you an opportunity to talk to experts face to face, obtain information and advice and develop contacts.
