Parents Advice Centre would like to invite you to a Presentation Morning which will showcase some of the learning arising from the "Kick Start 2006" project.

Kick Start is an innovative initiative which offers an eight month package of training, support, networking, reflection and practical action to groups that are trying to, or wishing to, engage with fathers in Northern Ireland.

Seventeen participants completed the programme in 2006 wherein they ... undertook an internal "Father-Friendly Audit" of their organisations; participated in three training days on the why, the how, and the what of working with fathers; planned and implemented a practical project with a father-focus; recorded their experience and learning outcomes from this process.

The Kick Start 2006 trainees have organised an event to give others the opportunity to ... understand why we need increased engagement with fathers; get a sense of what Kick Start offers; hear, first-hand, the practical experience of a number of trainees; meet this year's Kick Start participants and find out about the hands-on things involved in running an activity for fathers.

This event will ... happen on Wednesday 25 October 2006; begin with tea/coffee/registration at 10.00am and finish with light lunch at 12.30pm; take place in the Spires Conference Centre, Belfast City Centre.

If you would like to participate in this free event (supported by the Family Policy Unit within DHSSPS), please telephone either Colin Fowler or Trisha McQueen at Belfast 028 9031 0891 for a booking form or visit: www.mensproject.org and print off, complete, and return the booking form.
