This Equality Commission workshop aims to assist voluntary sector employers seeking to review their current recruitment methods to ensure they meet recommended best practice in relation to the promotion of equality of opportunity.

By the end of the workshop participants should have:

  • An awareness of key elements of the anti-discrimination legislation relating to recruitment and selection methods
  • Considered recommended best practice in relation to the following aspects of the recruitment process:
    • Job Criteria & Job Descriptions
    • Advertising & Information to Applicants
    • Structured Application Forms
    • Short-listing and Interviewing
    • Selection Testing
    • References and Other Checks
  • Discussed issues specific to individual equality grounds such as race and disability.
