This event is being organised to help raise funds for Age Concern Northern Ireland so that it can continue to provide much needed care for vulnerable older people in our community, e.g. day care and befriending.

A recent survey of 500 people in Northern Ireland revealed that older people in Northern Ireland are living in isolation, one in four people over the age of 65 spend more than 15 hours a day alone, which is much higher than any other age group. Half of people over 65 do not have a best friend and 40 per cent are afraid of being lonely. These people are more at risk of depression and ill-health caused by isolation and loneliness
