The NI Rural Women's Network and the Rural Community Network are organising an International Women's Day event on 8 March 2007 in the Portrush/Bushmills area. The overall theme is around 'giving value, being valued' as different women living and working in rural areas. It's about all women having the confidence, opportunities and resources to actively participate in all areas of rural life [giving value] and the wider rural community recognizing and giving equal value the work of women in rural areas [being valued].

The morning will be centred around four workshops representing four different worlds in which women contribute to and shape: faith; community/health; work and sustainable childcare; decision-making. The afternoon will then be spent exploring the agenda for change within these worlds within a chaning rural context.
