In the coming months Help the Aged will be continuing with its campaign to highlight an issue which is profoundly distressing: Elder Abuse.
Until now, it has been little acknowledged. It may, therefore, shock you to learn of the sheer scale of the problem. The fact is that thousands of older people are being abused in Northern Ireland every day. The abuse can be physical. It may be psychological. Sometimes it is financial, sexual or comes as a result of neglect. Horrifically, it can take the form of a combination of any of these.
Help the Aged is inviting older people, sector colleagues and interested parties living or working in the Armagh, Craigavon, Banbridge, Down, Dungannon and Newry and Mourne areas to its regional meeting of the 'Help Stop Elder Abuse' campaign, in Armagh City Hotel, 2 Friary Road, Armagh. The event will be held on Friday 29 September from 10.30am – 12.00pm, and refreshments will be available.
At the meeting, delegates will have the opportunity to find out more about the issue of Elder Abuse and how they can get involved in our campaign.
