The relationship between the food we eat, the environment that produces it and our health and quality of life is often underestimated.

This conference organised by Northern Ireland Environment Link in partnership with the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, will look at the practical opportunities in Northern Ireland to:

  • make these linkages clear;
  • develop local markets and community resources which promote healthy food;
  • promote environmental protection;
  • minimise the negative impacts that food production and transportation can have on our environment.

Target audience:

  • community farming/gardening practitioners;
  • organic producers and distributors;
  • farmers’ markets promoters or practitioners;
  • policy makers in food, health or the environment;
  • voluntary, community and professional groups involved in these areas;
  • central and local government officers with an interest.
