This is a short 30 minute piece of theatre from Northern Irish Playwright, Christina Reid, which will challenge you to consider what it’s like to not fit in, or not to be heard.
“The Gift of the Gab” is a highly stylised piece and a real tour de force from this fledging company. While this national theatre play is aimed at adults with learning disabilities, everyone is encouraged to come along and watch this powerful production as it will have you enthralled and challenged throughout.
There is a real twist to this piece of theatre and although short in duration it sends out a powerful and warming message in its conclusion.
“The Gift of the Gab” is a dynamic and wonderfully choreographed play, and with an exciting workshop with facilitators Lisa May and Ross Anderson, this morning of theatre will be great fun for all.Admission to the performance is £3 and there are group discounts available. Based at Derry’s Millennium Forum, Stage Beyond is a theatre company specifically for adults with learning disabilities. These talented actors are Northern Ireland’s first professional theatre company specialising in training, facilitation and performance. Through their performances Stage Beyond research, devise and tour shows which reflect their own thoughts and concerns about living in society today.
Stage Beyond is delighted to have engaged the talents of Lisa May and Ross Anderson from Bruiser Theatre Company, who are both producing and directing this play. Familiar names within the Northern Ireland theatre scene, Lisa and Ross will also facilitate a one-hour workshop after the performance.
Lisa is the founder and Artistic Director of Belfast-based, Bruiser Theatre Company. She is also a freelance artist and experienced workshop facilitator. Ross Anderson is an experienced singing and voice tutor and runs his own ‘theatre as education’ company. Nor Nothin’ works in communities and schools dealing with a variety of issues through the medium of performance.
