Workshop Aim: To assist voluntary sector employers and selection panel members seeking to ensure that they meet recommended best practice in relation to the promotion of equality of opportunity when recruiting staff.

Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop participants should have:

1. An awareness of key elements of the anti-discrimination legislation relating to recruitment and selection methods

2. Considered recommended best practice in relation to the following aspects of the recruitment process:

o Job Criteria & Job Descriptions
o Advertising & Information to Applicants
o Structured Application Forms
o Short-listing, Interviewing and Selection Testing
o References and Other Checks

3. Discussed issues specific to individual equality grounds.
