Workshop Aim: To assist voluntary sector employers seeking to develop positive or affirmative action strategies aimed at attracting applicants from groups currently under-represented in their workforce.


Learning Objectives: By the end of the workshop participants should have:

1. Considered positive action measures allowed under existing equality legislation aimed at addressing workforce under-representations in relation to gender, disability, race, sexual-orientation and age.

2. Considered affirmative action measures allowed under the Fair Employment & Treatment (NI) Order 1998 aimed at addressing under-representations in relation to the two main communities in Northern Ireland.

3. Examined an implementation plan outlining the main steps to consider when developing a positive or affirmative action undertaking.
