The MS Society, NI has organised a sponsored six kilometre Red Squirrel Walk at Belvoir Forest Park.
The walk is happening on Saturday 13 August, leaving the forest car park at 10.30am.
The Regal Band will be providing entertainment for participants during registration between 10.00am to 10.30am.
The mayor of Castlereagh, councillor Tommy Jeffers, features in the band. His involvement in the Red Squirrel Walk will mark his first contribution to The MS Society, NI since he chose to support the charity during his mayoral term.
Deirdre Murphy commenting on behalf of The MS Society, NI saying, "This is our third Red Squirrel Walk and to date this sponsored event has been very successful raising nearly £2,500 for The MS Society, NI.
"We urge the people of Belfast and Castlereagh Borough Council to back the mayor's support for the sponsored walk".
A park ranger will lead participants around a six kilometre route of Belvoir Forest. Along the way walkers will be informed of the ways of the forest. Walkers will have an opportunity to feed the endangered Red Squirrel and if they are lucky they may even get close to one.
Everyone is welcome to the walk including your furry friendly companions (pets!).
