Niall Fitzduff - biography

Niall has been Director of Rural Community Network (NI) since its establishment in 1991. RCN began with 2 staff, and now has over 30. There are over 100 working at the network level in different rural network organisations across NI, with 700 member groups and over 10,000 people who engage with them in various ways.


He was involved in a voluntary capacity on a range of rural projects in Ardboe, Co Tyrone, where he was born and still lives. He was a board member of Combat Poverty Agency from 1996-1999 and a member of the National Economic and Social Forum 1999-2003.
Currently he is a member od DARD's Stakeholders' Forum and a member of the Government Voluntary and Community Sector Joint Forum. Niall was awarded the 2004 Beacon Prize for Northern Ireland for his contribution to rural development here. Other winners include Sir Bob Geldof and Jamie Oliver!

The second in ACOVO's series of breakfast seminars featuring a speaker from the public, private or voluntary sector sharing their personal views on the challenges of leadership.
