Event
The Meditation and Movement classes consist of two sessions, meditation lasts for 50 minutes while the second begins after a short break and concentrates on movement. The course will be taught by Ursula Laeubli, Co-Artistic Director of Echo Echo. Ursula has developed her own method of movement practice over many years.
The meditation practice includes a gentle tuning in period with breathing and focusing and a guided introduction to a sitting meditation. The movement class is open to everybody who is interested in finding a balance of body and mind. Individually each person will increase and develop a wide range of physical movement ability and a vocabulary including natural fluidity and softness in the joints, gracefulness and beauty.
Learning about an enjoyable, skilful and efficient use of gravity and balance, playing with rhythm, momentum and imagination. A bit like writing poetry with your body. This creative movement practice will then lead into more interactive improvisations with a partner or in groups.
Participants will discover a sense of fun and freedom in this creative environment. A lot of emphasis is given on non-judgemental observation and appreciation to self and others in motion.
Starting at 9.30am, Ursula requests that everyone arrives early so as not to disturb the meditation. Meditation class ends at 10.20am and after a ten minute break, the movement class begins at 10.30am and ends at 12.30pm.
