Event
This year, World Heart Day is on 24 September and Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke are encouraging people be active and to go for a walk on World Heart Day and days thereafter.
NICHS, in conjunction with District Councils and the DRD Roads Service, co-ordinates an exercise incentive scheme called Highway to Health to encourage people of all ages to take regular exercise for leisure and good health. Signs are placed at 1Km intervals on popular walking routes for people to follow and maps of these routes are available from the local council or they can be downloaded from our website at http://www.nichsa.com/html/health/nireland.html
Walk the HIGHWAY TO HEALTH route in your area on World Heart Day. Take some friends and get your community active. Young and old alike benefit from being more active in their daily lives.
There are 29 Highway to Health Routes province wide but if there are none near you why not take a walk in your local park, in the countryside or along the coast.
